  • I am using a Nikon D300s with a 400mm f/2.8, sometimes with a TC1.4 for more reach. When the eagle gets close to me I can get good detail. Tracking using a Wimberly gimbal mount is the best way to capture these shots. It takes a lot of practice to lead the eagle just right so that you can follow it in the view finder.
  • Well it was an interesting catch even if not an eagle!

  • Many times you will seem a group of 7 eagles plus fighting for the caught fish. Notice that the fish is dropped from the far left bottom of the picture. This photograph was really too far away for my lenes to capture good quality detail but it was an interesting photo to share.
