  • HDR of the Colorful Polychrome Pass.
  • The Indian Head formation at the Savage Bridge entrance.
  • Tour bus crossing the Toklat River bridge.
  • We saw several caribou during the tour. Usually they were too far away to get any good photos of. But this guy was fairly close and photo came out okay.
  • Well here are two of the caribou that we came across.
  • Again most of the bears were some distance from the tour route and getting a good photo was trying. This is one of the best that I was able to come away with. The sow had two spring clubs with her and they put on a nice show for all.
  • Grizzly bear and her two spring clubs. We spent about 10-15 minutes taking photos of this group. The tour bus is not ideal for pro wildlife photographers due to the time limit that you have on the route. But we did get a chance to see a quite a few nice things.
  • During our trip we went to the Savage River crossing and my wife Becky and I along with Ken Conger took some time to follow a pair of Willow Ptarmigan around. Here is the female picking around the ground for food.
  • The male Willow Ptarmigan trying to look bold for a photograph.
  • Here is the male Willow Ptarmigan raising cane with the three of us photographers.
  • My wife Becky trying to photograph a moose and calf through a thick undergrowth. This shot was actually taken in a park around Anchorage.
  • Here is one of the best photos of the female moose taken at the park near Anchorage. Difficult setting to photogragh in.
  • In Denali, this bull moose walked across the road from the tour bus. Unfortunately because we were in the bus we couldn't get a very good photo. This turned out better than I thought it would but it is still lacking in quality.
  • We were so lucky to get an upgrade on one of the lodges we stayed at. This is the Grande Denali Lodge located outside of the Denali park. Beautiful location and set nicely on a high ridge.
  • Another shot of the Grande Denali Lodge taken from the park area.
  • The are our friends and traveling parners. David McDonald on the left is a graphic artist and a specialist in PhotoShop. Gave me a lot of good hints. Jose Hernandez, in the center, has traveled to many places throughout the years and is a fun and pleasant sole to be with. Ken Conger, on the right, is the pro wildlife photographer and the leader of the tour group. Not only are all three great photographers but also all are Canon shooters. Of course my wife Becky and I are the only Nikon users in the group and the challenge was always on.
  • Denali really has some beautiful scenery. This is taken from the bus tour stop at one of the passes.
